Fees
What if we discussed fees?
The criteria for setting fees are related to the difficulty of the case and the time dedicated to your file. The first appointment is an introductory meeting about your case (maximum 30 minutes) and is free of charge. After this meeting, you will be offered a written fee agreement, as well as an indicative budget estimate.
Four billing methods can be proposed to best suit the specifics of your case:
- Hourly Rate: You agree to pay the lawyer an hourly fee. Where possible, you will be informed of the estimated number of hours required to handle your case. The hourly rate can range from 200 to 450 euros excluding taxes, depending on the complexity of the case and the estimated volume of hours.
- Flat Fee: A predefined total amount is proposed to handle your case. This method is generally conceivable only for "standard" procedures, with few uncertainties, such as the incorporation of a company or a contract audit.
- Contingency Fee: This is in addition to a minimum fee (flat fee or hourly rate) defined with your lawyer. Depending on the outcome of your case, an additional fee may be agreed upon.
- Subscription: If you need periodic and regular assistance for services, we can offer you a subscription contract. In practice, this formula is mainly used in business law by companies or entrepreneurs.
In addition to fees, you may be required to pay other costs that do not directly account for the lawyer's compensation:
- Regulated fees due for certain legal actions in court;
- Advocacy fees awarded to lawyers for each court decision, whether through pleading or filing with most jurisdictions;
- Disbursements and operating expenses represent sums advanced by the firm on behalf of its client (e.g., bailiff fees).
In any case, all these elements will be included in the fee agreement, which will also specify the terms of payment, including the possibility of installment payments.
